Market stalls & oddities

Pike Place

Pike Place Market is the multi-level public market above the waterfront, with produce and seafood stalls on the arcade, a daily crafts market, and old bookshops, comic and ephemera dealers in the DownUnder levels below. It suits food shoppers, collectors and anyone hunting Seattle-made gifts, from spices and chocolate cherries to hats and maps.

Capitol Hill shopping district in Seattle
Books & vintage

Capitol Hill

Books · Vintage · Melrose Market

Capitol Hill is Seattle's dense, walkable shopping hill, with Broadway E, the Pike/Pine corridor and Melrose Market holding independent bookstores, vintage and consignment shops and design-minded boutiques. It suits book browsers, vintage hunters and shoppers who like to mix small shops with a few national brands.

Ballard shopping district in Seattle
Boutiques & makers

Ballard

Boutiques · Records · Sunday market

Ballard's shopping runs along the brick-and-cobblestone stretch of historic Ballard Ave NW and the blocks of NW Market St around 22nd Ave NW, with independent boutiques, jewelers, a curiosity shop and a long-running record store. It suits browsers who want small owner-run shops, Scandinavian design and a Sunday farmers market in one walk.

Downtown Seattle shopping district in Seattle
Flagships & department stores

Downtown

Nordstrom · Jewelers · Westlake

Downtown's retail core runs along Pine St and Fourth to Sixth Avenues around Westlake Park, anchored by the original Nordstrom, Westlake Center and Pacific Place. It suits shoppers after flagships, jewelers and designer clothing, though many national chains have left since 2020 and Pacific Place now leans on pop-ups.

Pioneer Square shopping district in Seattle
Galleries & rare books

Pioneer Square

Pioneer Square is Seattle's oldest neighborhood, a district of brick and stone buildings around First Ave S, Occidental Ave S and S Jackson St that holds the city's densest cluster of art galleries. It suits gallery-goers, rare-book and ephemera collectors, and anyone browsing vintage, stationery and Indigenous art between stadium days.

Fremont shopping district in Seattle
Records & vintage

Fremont

Fremont's small shopping core sits just north of the Fremont Bridge, where N 34th–36th streets meet Fremont Ave N and Fremont Pl N, with record stores, used books, a vintage mall and gift shops. It suits record diggers, vintage hunters and anyone pairing a Sunday market with a neighborhood walk.

University Village shopping district in Seattle
Open-air favorites

U Village

Open-air · Local favorites · Near UW

U Village is the open-air shopping center just east of the University of Washington, with more than 120 shops, restaurants and services set along landscaped walkways and three garages off 25th Ave NE. It suits shoppers who want national brands like Apple, Aritzia and RH alongside long-running Seattle independents such as Fran's Chocolates, glassybaby and Ravenna Gardens.

Luxury & flagships

Bellevue

Downtown Bellevue's shopping core pairs Kemper's Bellevue Collection (Bellevue Square, Lincoln Square and Bellevue Place, linked along NE 8th St and Bellevue Way) with The Shops at The Bravern a few blocks east. Bellevue Square carries the department stores and big flagships like Nordstrom, Apple and Burberry, while The Bravern holds the Eastside's top luxury houses, Hermès, Louis Vuitton and Prada.

Vintage & makers

Georgetown

Georgetown is an old industrial neighborhood south of downtown where Airport Way S mixes brick taverns with comics, records, antiques, galleries and a weekend market of vintage trailers. It suits vintage hunters, art-walk regulars and anyone who likes their shopping with a brewery stop.
